A week is a long time in rugby league, and the Boston 13s showed that as they exacted some revenge on the Rhode Island Rebellion in Providence Saturday night, to square the ledger at a game a piece in 2013.
Round 1 didn’t go too well for the ‘Bean Town boys’ as they were beaten comprehensively by a sharp Rebellion outfit. Round 2 however, was a completely different story as the 13s dominated for most part to win very comfortably.
Having the core of the 2012 grand final team back on deck after their rugby and collegiate commitments, Boston picked up where they left off last season, with front rower Carl Harrison’s hard running and bruising defense paving the way for excitement machines Anthony MacQueston and Marcos Flegmann to find space out wide.

New recruits AJ Mudford, Romaen ‘Gully’ Campbell, Conor Leahy, Nikola Vasic & Alex Giannakakis also had great debuts for the club.
“It was a great feeling being back out there with the boys”, said 13s fullback Jesse Pearce. “All odds were against us after last week’s result, but we just dug in, and worked hard for each other. It took a little while but we eventually got into our rhythm and got the job done. It was probably the best all-round team performance I’ve been involved with at the 13s.”
